Basti Jodhewal (Ludhiana):
The situation in Basti Jodhewal has become increasingly concerning as the footpaths have been converted into a makeshift vegetable market. With vendors occupying the walkways, pedestrians are forced to walk in the middle of the road, putting their lives at risk.
This daily practice is creating massive traffic jams at the main chowk, leaving commuters frustrated and delaying movement across the area. Despite the chaos, there has been little to no action taken by the concerned authorities.
Locals complain that traffic rule violations have become routine, with people blatantly ignoring road safety norms. “Every day we get stuck here for 30 to 40 minutes. The footpaths are blocked, and people walk in the center of the road, which is dangerous for both pedestrians and drivers,” said a local resident.
The lack of enforcement has raised serious questions about traffic management and civic planning in the area. Residents are demanding immediate action to clear the footpaths, regulate the vendors, and ensure strict implementation of traffic laws before the situation worsens further.
