Vegetable Market Encroaches on Footpaths in Basti Jodhewal, Daily Traffic Woes for Residents

Ludhiana, Punjab

Ludhiana, Punjab — Residents of Basti Jodhewal are facing severe hardships as the local vegetable market has taken over footpaths, forcing pedestrians to walk on the road and putting their lives at constant risk.

The encroachment has led to frequent traffic jams in the area, making commuting a daily struggle. Locals complain that despite repeated violations of traffic rules, no strict action is being taken against vendors or motorists who worsen the situation.

“Every day, walking here feels dangerous. Footpaths are occupied by vendors, so we have no choice but to step onto the busy road. The traffic congestion is unbearable,” said one resident.

The lack of enforcement by traffic authorities has only added to the frustration of the public. With no visible action against violators, people fear accidents could become a regular occurrence if the problem is not resolved soon.

Citizens are demanding immediate intervention from the municipal corporation and traffic police to clear the footpaths and restore smooth traffic movement in Basti Jodhewal.
